Two people were arrested and more than 20 pounds of methamphetamine was seized as part of a major narcotics investigation in the Portland metro area.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said members of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) have been conducting the investigation into a drug trafficking organization operating in the metro area over the past several months.

During a traffic stop on Aug. 14, SIU found an ounce of heroin and $11,000 in cash in the vehicle. The two occupants, identified as Amador Patino and Prisciliano Vega-Alexandre, were arrested for charges of possession and delivery of a controlled substance of heroin.

The sheriff's office said SIU received consent to search a home on Southeast Division Street where they found about $97,000 in cash, drug records and drug packaging material.

The investigation continued at an apartment on Southeast Powell Court where SIU served a search warrant and found about 21 pounds of methamphetamine, 7.6 pounds of heroin, drug records, scales and packaging material.

Then on Aug. 15, the sheriff's office said SIU learned of another place where Vega-Alexandre lived located on Southeast 136th Avenue. SIU served a search warrant at the house and located 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine and seven ounces of heroin.

According to the sheriff's office, the street value of the seized drugs could be worth up to $1 million.

Patino and Vega-Alexandre were booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of possession and delivery of a controlled substance of methamphetamine and heroin. Both were bailed out of jail at a combined bail total of $110,500 and are currently in warrant status.

The sheriff's office said Patino failed to appear for a court appearance and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Alexandre is also wanted on a warrant for failure to comply with pretrial release services.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Patino and/or Alexandre should contact law enforcement. Anyone who knows of their immediate location should call 911.
