Fire destroys mobile home in Newport park; cause under investigation

A fire destroyed an unoccupied mobile home at a park in Newport on Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to the residential mobile home park on the 100 block of Northwest 6th Street at 5:03 a.m.

The first crew at the scene reported a fully involved mobile home fire near other structures.

The Newport Fire Department was joined by crews from Seal Rock and Depoe Bay in controlling the fire.

The mobile home was destroyed, but the nearby structures received only minor damage. Some people were temporarily evacuated, but there were no reports of injuries.

Nobody was in the mobile home that was destroyed at the time of the fire and the cause is under investigation.

Firefighters were conducting mop-up operations at the scene until 8 a.m.
