Several tents were destroyed in a fire that spread to nearby trees and bushes at a homeless camp in northeast Portland Saturday.

Portland Fire and Rescue said the fire started at a camp in a wooded area along the train tracks near Northeast 11th Avenue and Lloyd Boulevard.

Firefighters said several tents burned and some trees and shrubs were on fire when crews arrived around 9 a.m.

Firefighters were able to get the flames under control and there were no reports of injuries.

Crews have responded to a number of similar fires in the past week as the weather has turned warmer and drier, firefighters said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but firefighters said witnesses did not provide much information to help.
