Open book

(Meredith) -- Elementary students at a Florida school can be pick up a quick read by simply using their school's vending machine.

The new vending machine is filled with books instead of sweet treats. KTRK reports a staff member came up with the idea from social media and a friend helped her find a refurbished machine.

Students can purchase books from the machine for 50 cents each.

The machine will officially open Monday to celebrate Literacy Week in Florida.

what a great idea!!![smile]!!! I believe in literacy and reading for all!! This idea might spark an overall interest.. using books to read or similar types of things and not sugary/unhealthy choices is a better alternative I think!!!
Kudos to the teacher(s) who thought of this wonderful idea. Awesome idea and I hope it inspires students in that school to read, share the love of reading with fellow students and also possibly teach others to read.
