The iconic Portland statue Portlandia is turning 30 years old.
The city of Portland hosted a birthday party for Portlandia on Thursday afternoon.
The sculptural icon at the Portland Building in downtown is made of hammered copper sheeting around a steel armature.
According to the Oregon Historical Society, the 36-foot statue is the second largest hammered copper statue in the U.S., behind only the Statue of Liberty.
The Historical Society said if Portlandia were to stand upright, she would be over 50 feet tall.
Portlandia was designed by artist Raymond Kaskey and installed on a pedestal at the Portland building in 1985.
Former mayor Bud Clark and current mayor Charlie Hales were on hand for Thursday's celebration, and singer Storm Large performed "Amazing Grace."
