An 18-year-old from Hillsboro was indicted by a Washington County jury after a crash last month that left one person dead and three others injured.

According to deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Jake Pruett was driving a 2000 Toyota Avalon at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle when attempting to turn a corner on Northwest Cedar Canyon Road in Banks.

When deputies arrived, they found the car on its side in the roadway with a great deal of damage. Investigators determined the car had rolled multiple times, and witnesses said that one of the passengers in the vehicle, 31-year-old Colin Fleming of Banks, was standing through the open sunroof at the time of the crash.

Fleming was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where 10 days later he died from injuries suffered during the crash.

This past Wednesday, a grand jury in Washington County indicted Pruett on one count each of manslaughter in the second degree and reckless driving, and three counts each of assault in the fourth degree and reckless endangering.

Pruett was booked into the Washington County Jail Saturday with a bail of $257,000.
