A two-month long interstate ramp closure begins on Sunday.
Oregon Department of Transportation announced that commuters should prepare for delays as they repair ramps at the Interstate 5 And Interstate 84 interchange in Portland.
ODOT said the ramp closure repairs will impact the C-TRAN express service to downtown Portland.
The following ramps will close for 24 hours a day for up to two weeks: 10 p.m. Sunday, July 8 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 23: I-5 southbound ramp to I-84 eastbound closed 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6: I-84 westbound to I-5 northbound closed 10 p.m. Friday, July 27 to 5 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2: Only one lane open on I-84 westbound from Lloyd Center to I-5. The far-left lane will remain open during this period. 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27: I-84 westbound to I-5 southbound closed leaving only one lane of I-84 westbound open from Lloyd Center to I-5. The far-right lane will remain open during this period.Riders should expect significant delays on all Portland-area freeways during the work period, which will impact C-TRAN service and should consider using MAX as an alternative if possible.C-TRAN said their express routes will serve all stops as usual, but buses will avoid the I-5 and I-84 interchange on their way to and from downtown Portland.TriMet is aware of the closure and asks commuters to use Park and Rides and hop on the MAX to avoid traffic jams during the improvements.Commuters can visit http://news.trimet.org/2018/07/take-max-and-avoid-gridlock-during-i-84-i-5-improvements/ for a list of MAX/Park and Ride options
