Large fire destroys barn at Ridgefield dairy farm

Clark County fire crews battled a large barn fire that sparked at a dairy farm in Ridgefield early Wednesday.

Clark County Fire and Rescue said the fire was called in around 2 a.m.

Firefighters said a large barn filled with hay caught fire at the Kennedy Dairy Farm located at 23117 Northwest Hillhurst Road. It was quickly updated to a second alarm.

Crews worked to keep the fire isolated to one barn and to prevent it from spreading to other buildings in the commercial dairy complex.

There are no fire hydrants in the area and crews were forced bring in water tankers.

Firefighters said the fire is under control but not out. No animals or people were hurt in the fire.

According to officials, the Kennedy Dairy Farm is one of the last large local dairy farms in the area.
