While some people waited in line for Black Friday deals, others were lured to downtown Portland by a parade.
Macy's celebrated their 29th annual Holiday Parade on Friday morning.
People lined the streets as local marching bands, costumes and 25 inflatable floats helped celebrate the holidays.
One of the floats was an inflatable elf costume, it was the same one featured in New York City's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
FOX 12 spoke with several people who say the parade is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
"It's really cool, we love the marching bands, and you see the fire truck, and it's cool, it's really cool," said Rusty Henderson.
The parade traveled from West Burnside and ended at Park Avenue with Santa dashing through the streets on his sleigh.
