Deputies have arrested a man after he was caught on camera assaulting and kidnapping his then-girlfriend back in July.
Marion County Sheriff's Office said Alfredo Lopez-Almonte, 29, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Sunday for two counts of kidnapping, three counts of assault in the fourth degree, and two counts of menacing. All of those charges are related to domestic violence.
Deputies say on July 24 they responded to the 100 block of Lancaster Drive Southeast in Salem on the report of a man fighting with a woman and choking her. When deputies arrived, the man and woman were gone.
The investigation continued, however, with deputies working to retrieve surveillance images from a local business.
Deputies obtained surveillance video of the incident Thursday and released it on Friday.
The video showed a man in a white Ford Expedition park, get out of the vehicle and approach a woman. He puts his arm around her and seems to be guiding her toward the SUV, but she resists and eventually attempts to run away through the parking lot.
The man follows her, catches her, grabs her by the head and again forces her toward the vehicle. A struggle appears to ensue inside the vehicle. After nearly eight minutes the vehicle drives away.
Deputies said the victim came forward after seeing herself on the news. The victim's name will not be released.
Deputies said Lopez-Almonte also had warrants for his arrest for assault in the fourth degree - domestic, DUII and alien unlawfully present due to order of removal from USA.
Lopez-Almonte was taken to Marion County Jail.
