A 64-year-old man was injured in a boat fire on Tomahawk Island last week and later died.

Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to the fire, located in the 500 block of Northeast Tomahawk Island Drive, at around 9:55 a.m. on Aug. 22.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found a 27-foot sailboat on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to one boat.

A man on the boat, identified as Edward Strahm, was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

He later died from his injuries.

Strahm's family has set up a GoFundMe in an effort to raise funds for expenses including a memorial service, medical bills, and damage to neighboring boats caused by the fire.
