A Milwaukie man pleaded guilty to sexually abusing children, while his grandfather is still scheduled to face trial in the same case.

Troy L. Kirk Jr. pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sex abuse in court Friday. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and he must register as a sex offender.

Kirk and his grandfather, William A. Kirk Sr., were arrested in June 2016 at their home in the Milwaukie area.

They were 26 years old and 72 years old, respectively, at the time of their arrests.

The investigation began in 2015 out of Bend. During the investigation, Oregon State Police reported that many of the crimes took place in the Milwaukie area.

The victims were known to the suspects and were between the ages of 4 and 7 years old at the time of the abuse, according to investigators.

William Kirk is scheduled to face trial on Sept. 27.
