A 23-year-old Rock Creek woman who was reported missing this past weekend was found safe in Roseburg.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office say Lane County deputies located Demi Helenius in Roseburg around 8:30 p.m. thanks to a public tip. Helenius was determined to be safe and in good health.
Helenius was reported missing by family members on Sunday.
Helenius went to a conference at Portland Embassy Suites, 7900 N.E. 82nd Ave., on Friday, returned home and went back to the conference Saturday morning. She did not return home that night and did not contact any family members.
Deputies say her phone was found at a Dairy Queen in Creswell, about 130 miles south of Portland. An employee a man in the drive-through handed over the phone, saying he found it and asked for it to be placed in their lost-and-found.
Helenius' car was found Monday in Cottage Grove, about nine miles south of Creswell. A “very cursory examination” of the car at the scene showed no signs of foul place, according to deputies.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office gave FOX 12 this statement Wednesday morning on Helenius' disappearance:She left on her own for personal reasons. When she was located, she was found to be not a danger to herself and in very good health. Though the manner in which she did it caused a lot of people (including us) much concern and we wish she would have gone about it other ways, we respect her privacy.Detectives would like to thank the public for the numerous tips.
