Newberg City Manager Jacque Betz will not face criminal charges in connection with her decision to put the Newberg-Dundee police chief on leave, Marion County District Attorney Walt Beglau said Friday.

The Newberg City Council voted July 20 to put Betz on administrative leave after several people raised concerns over her conduct.

Betz placed Newberg-Dundee Police Chief Brian Casey on leave July 17 but didn't disclose why.

Casey has since been taken off administrative leave.

Beglau said there was no evidence of any criminal wrongdoing by Betz.

The Yamhill County District Attorney and Oregon State Police assisted in the investigation.
