People prepping their cars for possible snow in metro area

With a chance for snow possible in the metro area next week, people are making sure their cars are ready.

Workers at Les Schwab Tire Centers are prepared for a possible rush of people if icy weather does hit the region.

On Thursday, workers at one northwest Portland store answered questions from customers about the best tires for the season.

"Snow tires make a huge difference in traction," said store manager Cliff Pruner. "Rain, snow, ice, all of it is going to be beneficial. With a studded tire there is a little bit more road noise, studless tires are definitely quieter."

FOX 12 chief meteorologist Mark Nelsen said snow is possible in Portland on Monday morning, most likely above the 1,000-foot elevation.

It doesn't snow much in Portland, but it'll be close Monday AM. Mostly likely up around 1,000' and higher. Stay tuned! https://t.co/8reBt5X79d— Mark Nelsen (@MarkNelsenKPTV) December 2, 2016
