Portland police closed several streets in Southeast Portland to search for two possibly armed men who they say robbed a bar in the area Friday morning.

Police blocked off the area between Southeast Holgate Boulevard and Boise Street and 112th and 115th avenues.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, a black man and a white man went into the 82nd Street Bar & Grill around 2:30 a.m. armed with a knife and a gun.

Police have not released information on what took place inside the bar but the alleged robbers then fled the scene in a vehicle.

Responding officers saw the suspects' car leave the scene. The car later crashed at Southeast 112th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard and the suspects took off on foot into the neighborhood.

Amelia Nance heard the crash and ran outside to see if ask if everyone was okay.

“They didn't acknowledge me at all, didn't even look at me,” she said. “Ran and then one kid forgot his phone. Then ran back and had to hop through the window to get his phone.”

Nance said within 30 seconds police showed up asking where the men went.

Officers located and arrested one suspect around 7:30 a.m. The second suspect is still at large.

Portland police deployed the Special Emergency Reaction Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team to the scene. Police began clearing the area around 8 a.m.

Police opened Holgate to traffic around 5:15 a.m. Neighbors are asked to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
