Police arrested a man suspected of carjacking a woman at gunpoint and forcing her to drive around southeast Portland.
In an interview with FOX 12, the victim said a man with a gun demanded her car at a Dollar Tree store on Southeast Foster Road Tuesday evening.
When she refused and tried to get in her car and drive away, the man got in with her and told her to drive.
The woman was able to escape near Southeast 50th Avenue and Powell Boulevard, where passersby helped her call police.
The suspect later used the victim's credit card at a Plaid Pantry store in Milwaukie and police released a surveillance image in an attempt to locate him.
Police arrested the suspect, identified as Thomas Carl Price, 30, Thursday morning after someone spotted him at an Autozone store on Southeast 82nd Avenue in Portland and called 911.
Police said the caller had heard about the crime and remembered the descriptions of the suspect and vehicle.
Police said Price struggled with officers but was taken into custody inside the store.
Price was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of robbery in the first degree, kidnap in the first degree and unlawful used of a weapon.
Police said additional charges are likely after the case goes before a grand jury next week.
Price was scheduled to be arraigned on the initial charges Friday.
