A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder and his sister is also facing charges in connection with the methadone overdose death of his baby daughter three years ago, according to police.
Homicide detectives arrested Darian Lee McWoods on Wednesday on charges of murder, first-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, criminal mistreatment and tampering with a witness.
The investigation began on Dec. 17, 2013, after the death of 15-month-old Kamaya Denay Flores.
The state medical examiner conducted an autopsy and determined Flores died of methadone toxicity.
McWoods' sister and the child's aunt, Diamond McWoods, 22, was arrested Wednesday on charges of perjury, tampering with a witness and false swearing.
Police did not release any further details about the investigation.
Court documents state Darian McWoods "previously engaged in a pattern and practice of assault and torture" of another child.
