Camas police have identified a woman who died after two boats collided in the Camas Slough Sunday night.

The nearly head-on crash occurred just underneath the state route 14 bridge and involved three people, according to police.

The woman who died, identified as 41-year-old Natalia Zelenko, of Gladstone, was a passenger in one of the boats. Firefighters initially said Zelenko was in her 20s, but police later corrected the information.

Her husband, identified as 39-year-old Andrey Zelenko, also of Gladstone, was operating the boat.

Andrey Zelenko was critically injured in the crash and transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

36-year-old John Shoaf, of Camas, was operating the second boat. Shoaf suffered minor injuries and was also transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Officers say there were no obvious signs of impairment at the time of the crash.

The Clark County Sheriff’ Office Marine Unit assisted officers on scene Sunday.

The police department continues to investigate and says Shoaf and Zelenko are cooperating.
