Police say a man hit and killed by a car on Southeast Division Street last week was believed to be homeless at the time of the crash.
Officers responded to the intersection of Division and 156th Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators said Myit Oo, 51, was killed when he stepped into the roadway and was struck by a westbound car.
According to police, Oo was not in an intersection or a marked crosswalk at the time. A crosswalk with flashing lights was located about 120 feet to the east, police said.
Several of the responding officers were familiar with Oo, who police said had a history of public intoxication. Toxicology results are pending and are expected to take several weeks.
Police said the driver of the car was not impaired at the time of the crash and there was no evidence to suggest he was distracted.
The case will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review once police finish their investigation.
