Police identify Widmer employee hit by car in North Portland

A pedestrian was hit by a car and critically injured in north Portland on Monday.

Emergency crews were called out to North Russell Street and Mississippi Avenue at 11:50 a.m.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and found 44 year old Angel Hector Marquez of Sandy Oregon suffering from traumatic injuries.

He was taken to a Portland area hospital where he is reported in serious condition.

Police say Marquez was in a crosswalk crossing Russell Street when he was hit by a car being driven by 37 year old Frederick Chao.

Police say it appears Chao had some type of medical event just before the crash and showed no signs of impairment.

He remained at the scene and has not been cited

A spokeswoman for Widmer Brothers Brewing said the man who was hit is a Widmer employee.
