Police: Suspect throws item at gas station employee in SE Portland, steals beer

Portland police are investigating a robbery at a bank in the Sunnyside neighborhood.

Police responded to the report of a robbery at 1:54 p.m. at an Umpqua Bank, located at 3557 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard.

Employees told police the suspect demanded money and implied he had a weapon but no weapons were displayed.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left the bank.

Officers searched the neighborhood but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build, and bald.
