Police: Man arrested after gang fight in Portland's Entertainment District

A man was arrested early Sunday after a gang fight broke out in downtown Portland’s Entertainment District.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers with the Central Precinct Entertainment Detail and Gang Enforcement Team were patrolling the Entertainment District when a fight involving 10 to 12 gang associates started.

During the fight, which occurred at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Northwest Third Avenue between Couch and Burnside streets, a suspect brandished a gun in full view of officers.

He then ran from officers and discarded the gun in the parking lot at Northwest Fourth Avenue and Couch Street, according to police.

Officers took the suspect into custody and seized the gun. Darius Pierre Tarver, 25, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and escape in the third degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
