Police: Man who believed he was meeting minor for sex arrested in Portland

A 61-year-old man who thought he was meeting a minor for sex acts was arrested in southeast Portland, according to police.

William Moses was arrested Friday and faces numerous charges including purchasing sex with a minor, attempted sex abuse, promoting prostitution, luring a minor and endangering a minor.

The case began when the Portland Police Bureau posted a fake online advertisement and officers said Moses responded. During the course of an online conversation, according to investigators, Moses mentioned that he would like to have sex with a minor.

Officers continued to talk online with Moses, and he eventually agreed to meet the minor in Portland for sex, according to the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit.

Moses was taken into custody in the area of Southeast 99th Avenue and Oak Street.

He was booked in the Multnomah County Jail and was scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday.
