Police arrested a man Thursday morning who is accused of assaulting an officer, then fleeing.

Officers responded to a disturbance call near Southeast 137th Avenue and Stark Street around 12:30 a.m. and found several people in the area.

Police said one person, later identified as Joshua O'Farrell, 24, was really upset and got into an altercation with an officer, causing an injury to her head.

O'Farrell then fled from the scene, police said.

Officers tracked the suspect to the area of Southeast 132nd Avenue and Washington Street, where police took him into custody.

Police said the injured officer, a seven-year veteran of the bureau, is at an area hospital recovering. Police did not provide an update on her condition, but said her head injury is not life-threatening.

O'Farrell faces charges of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest, in addition to harassment and criminal trespass charges for the initial incident that led to the police response.
