A 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after he ran from police and was later found hiding under a deck in north Portland.
Police said just before 5 p.m., officers attempted to stop a white 1994 Acura Integra near the intersection of North Winchell Street and North Fenwick Avenue after the driver was seen committing multiple traffic violations.
When officers turned on their emergency lights, the driver sped away.
Additional officers responded to the area to help search for the vehicle and suspect.
According to police, the Acura was found straddling a sidewalk in the 1700 block of North Farragut Avenue and the suspect was seen running from the vehicle.
Officers, along with a police canine, searched the area and found the suspect under a deck in the backyard of a home in the 1500 block of North Farragut.
The suspect, identified as Armando J. Perez, was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
Police said officers found a firearm in a yard in the 1700 block of North Farragut. Officers were able to determine that the firearm had previously been reported as stolen.
Officers also learned the Acura had been reported stolen on July 28 in Sandy.
Perez is facing charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, reckless driving, aggravated theft in the first degree, felon in possession of a firearm, driving while suspended - misdemeanor, possession of methamphetamine, and a parole violation warrant for a previous conviction related to firing a weapon.
