A wanted suspect accused of numerous acts of vandalism during the protest that turned into a riot in Portland last week has been arrested, according to police.

Mateen Abdul Shaheed, 20, was taken into custody at an Estacada home Tuesday and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

Police sent out photos and a request for the public's help locating Shaheed on Monday.

Police had received numerous tips that identified Shaheed as the suspect from photos of destruction during the post-election riot in Portland on Thursday.

One photo showed Shaheed smashing the rear window of a car at Toyota of Portland.

Police said he was involved in numerous acts of vandalism during the riot.

Shaheed was arrested on six counts of first-degree criminal mischief. He is set to be arraigned in court Wednesday.

Detectives were assisted by members of the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Forest Service in this case.
