A murder suspect stabbed a man to death after finding the victim inside a crashed SUV in Salem, according to police.

Officers responded to Liberty Street Southeast and Superior Street Southeast at 1:37 a.m. Monday.

A 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer had crashed into a tree. The driver, 32-year-old Andrew Ramon of Gervais, was found dead inside the SUV.

An autopsy determined Ramon's death was the result of being stabbed.

Investigators learned Ramon had been involved in a fight with 26-year-old Darnell Edward Harris of Keizer during the previous evening or early that morning.

Ramon subsequently crashed his SUV into a tree. Harris then came upon the crash scene, according to detectives, and stabbed and killed Ramon.

Harris was located by police Wednesday afternoon and arrested. He was booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of murder, tampering with a witness and unlawful use of a weapon.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Detective Corporal Jeff Keniston at 503-588-6050, Ext. 7163.
