A 17-year-old girl who was looking at her phone was hit by a MAX train in Beaverton, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the Merlo Road-Southwest 158th Avenue Station at 5:19 p.m. Monday.

Officers said a teen was hit by a train and she fell to the ground, but she was conscious, alert and breathing at the scene. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators said the teen was looking down at her phone as she walked west on the platform and then south across the tracks. She was hit by an incoming eastbound train.

The MAX Blue Line was disrupted due to the collision. Shuttle buses were serving stations between the Beaverton Transit Center and Elmonica-Southwest 170th Avenue.
