Portland police responded to an assault at the Portland State University library Monday night.

PSU sent out a statement about the incident saying that at 7 p.m. a student at the Branford Price Millar Library reported a man was acting aggressively towards her and implied he had a gun.

Portland police said the woman was physically assaulted but no gun was seen. The woman did not know who the suspect was.

PSU Campus Public Safety officers and police searched the library for the suspect but did not locate him. Students were asked to shelter in place while the library was searched.

Investigators said the suspect is a white man in his 20s, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches and has acne scars on his face. He was wearing a black beanie, black jacket and blue jeans.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the library and released images of the suspect Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Campus Public Safety Office at 503-725-4407.
