Police: Woman seriously injured in SE Portland stabbing; suspect also injured

Police are investigating a stabbing that happened in southeast Portland Friday morning.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Southeast 97th Avenue at 3:51 a.m. on a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

Officers searching the area and found the knife near Southeast 97th Avenue and Southeast Ankeny Street.

According to police, officers learned the suspect was located in a tent near Northeast 97th Avenue and Northeast Davis Street.

Officers found the suspect, who was suffering from injuries that required medical attention. The suspect was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police told FOX 12 that the victim and suspect are known to each other.

Southeast 97th Avenue was closed between East Burnside Street and Southeast Ash Street during the investigation.
