Police: Woman with gun who robbed Sellwood bookstore connected to other robberies

Portland police arrested a woman accused of robbing a Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood bookstore and a southeast Portland shoe store Monday night.

Police said they arrived at Wallace Books on the 7200 block of Southeast Milwaukie Avenue at around 7 p.m. and talked with the victim who said a woman armed with a handgun demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the woman left and was seen getting into a vehicle.

Officers were able to locate the suspect driving on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard and stopped her car at Southeast 31st Avenue and Holgate Boulevard.

Hilary Leah Bishop, 44, was arrested on robbery charges and booked into the Multnomah County Jail. Police later charged her in connection with a robbery at Clogs & More on the 3400 block of Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard on Monday, as well as a robbery at Palio Espresso on the 1900 block of Southeast Ladd Avenue on Aug. 7.
