Police identify victim in north Portland homicide investigation

A woman's body was found in north Portland Friday and a man has been arrested in the investigation of her murder, police said Saturday.

At 3:15 p.m. Friday, police said officers were flagged down by a person in the 5300 block of North Lombard Street, and were told information by the person about a possible recent murder.

The officers requested additional police personnel to respond to the tip. Homicide detectives were also contacted and responded to lead the investigation.

While searching an area in north Portland and learning more information, officers found a woman's body. A more specific location was not provided by police.

A member of the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office went to the scene to assist with the investigation. Based on information learned when the body was located, detectives believed the victim was murdered.A member of the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office also responded and helped investigate.

Based on information learned so far in the investigation, homicide detectives took 58-year-old Terry Hickman into custody. He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and faces a murder charge.Police said investigators don't believe there is a danger to the community regarding the woman's death. No additional information will be released by police at this time. Police said more details will be provided as the investigation continues and after an autopsy is performed, which is scheduled for Saturday.
