This almost happened to us on HWY 26 sunset rest area 30 years ago. Also at night! A semi`truck was stopped, not moving in the slow lane, with no lights or warning triangles or flares!! We were very tired from working on our families Hillsboro properties but as always at night we were doing exactly 55 mph. 55 really does save lives!! It did ours! Upon realizing the truck was not moving we were able to quickly move into the left lane and avoid collision with the semi. To this day at night or in obscured lighting / visibility conditions we drive slower for safety and let idiot drivers who want to go faster pass us.
