A Seaside police officer was shot Friday evening while attempting to serve a warrant, according to Oregon State Police.

Oregon State Police said the incident happened at approximately 9:20 p.m.

Police said two officers tried to serve a warrant near the Pig N' Pancake on Broadway, Seaside's main strip.

The suspect fired the first shot and hit one officer, and the second officer fired back and hit the suspect.

Paramedics rushed both the suspect and officer to separate hospitals.

According to Oregon State Police, Clatsop County District Attorney’s Office and the Clatsop County Major Crime Team are conducting an investigation of the officer involved shooting.

In a press conference Saturday, the Clatsop County district attorney Josh Marquis announced Jason Goodding, 39, was the officer killed in the shooting.

Goodding was a graduate of Portland State University, and was hired by the Seaside Police Department in 2003.

Broadway is still closed Saturday morning for the investigation.
