Sheridan barn fire causes upward of $50K in damage

A fire destroyed a barn full of farm equipment in Sheridan.

Firefighters responded to the 7500 block of DeJong Road at 3:23 a.m. Friday. Crews arrived to find the 100-by-100-foot barn full involved.

Firefighters focused their efforts on controlling the fire and protecting the nearby outbuildings and home.

Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby buildings and agricultural fields.

The damage to the building and its contents is estimated to be $30,000 to $50,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from Sheridan, Amity, West Valley and McMinnville responded, as well as Portland General Electric workers and auxiliary members who provided food and drinks to crews at the scene.
