A Salem man running an unlicensed daycare in his home is facing charges including first-degree sex abuse involving a child, according to deputies.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual assault involving 53-year-old Jeffrey Rauch on July 25.

Following an investigation, Rauch was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Marion County Jail on charges including three counts of first-degree sex abuse, as well as first-degree sodomy and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration.

Detectives believe the abuse took place at Rauch’s home on the 4000 block of Ward Drive Northeast in Salem.

At the time of the assault, the home was being operated as an unlicensed daycare, according to investigators.

Court documents state the alleged crimes occurred between Jan. 1, 2016 and Aug. 1, 2017 and involved two girls, one under the age of 12 and the other under the age of 14.

Detectives now want to talk to anyone who used the Rauch home for daycare services. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 503-540-8079.
