Stolen husky puppy found, returned to owner

A husky puppy stolen from a supply store in Woodland has been found and returned.

"Police pulled back into our place and said, 'hey, we got something for you,'" said owner Rick Pettit. "It was nice, we didn't expect that."

"It was really nice for my daughter, because she gets attached to the dogs. She probably carried it around for an hour."

The 10-week-old puppy was stolen last week from a fenced area outside of Remnant Farms and Supply on Guild Road in Woodland.

At the time of the theft, the owners said thieves had came prepared with wire cutters, dark clothes and blacked out plates on their vehicle.

Woodland Police told Fox 12 they received an anonymous tip of social media posts showing the dog. Officers found the dog with Mikiah Voorhees, 18, who was arrested and booked in the Cowlitz County Jail.

"I just want to thank people in the community who watch our for us. Their tips made the Woodland Police Department's job a lot easier and successful," said Pettit. "It's just nice when the bad people don't win, you know."

Officers say they are still investigating the theft.
