Three people died in two separate motorcycle crashes near Corvallis on Monday.

Benton County deputies responded to the first crash on Highway 20 near Conifer Boulevard at 2:44 p.m.

Investigators said Douglas Alan Penix of Philomath was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on the highway when he hit a 1993 Chevrolet C15 pickup.

Deputies said the woman driving the truck was heading east on Highway 20 and had stopped at a red light before attempting to turn left on Conifer Boulevard.

The truck crossed the path of the motorcycle and Penix hit the right front of the pickup, according to investigators.

Penix was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured.

At 8:36 p.m., Benton County deputies responded to another deadly crash on Highland Drive near Crescent Valley Drive.

A witness reported seeing a speeding motorcyclist in the area and then hearing a loud crash.

Investigators said Brian Joseph Narzisi of Corvallis was driving a 1978 Suzuki motorcycle north on Highland Drive with Lisa Marie Pridemore of Corvallis as a passenger.

Narzisi entered a curve in the roadway at a high rate of speed, drove into the southbound lane and struck the driver’s side of a southbound 2013 Hyundai Accent, according to deputies.

The motorcycle went into a ditch and collided with a chain link fence and mailbox. Narzisi and Pridemore were thrown off the motorcycle and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.

Both crashes remain under investigation. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Sgt. David Peterson at 541-766-6820.
