A fire ripped through a home in Woodburn Tuesday evening, displacing 10 people and killing two of their dogs.

According to the Woodburn Fire District, the fire broke out just before 5 p.m. in the 800 block of Blaine Street.

The fire chief says there were six people inside the house sleeping at the time and it was a 6-year-old that woke up and ran down the block to get help.

The people inside made it out OK, but an elderly woman suffered burns on both her legs and back.

Officials said the elderly woman and a pregnant mother were rescued by two teenagers that were inside the home.

FOX 12 spoke with the granddaughter of that woman, who says their family is devastated.

“It’s a family home,” said granddaughter Christina Arroyl. “We always come and we go, everybody’s always visiting my grandma. I have an uncle that lives there, my mom lived in the home too, so it’s like you know, we were always just here visiting. This is where we do our family events, just everything happens here.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
