Two Washington County residents are dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 26 in Clatsop County that had the road either fully or partially closed for over five hours Saturday night.
According to the Oregon State Police, a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox being driven by 21-year-old Anali Aguilar Gaona of Cornelius was headed east near milepost 14 when it crossed the center line, striking a 2012 GMC pickup driven by Michael J Heuvelhorst, 63, of Seaside.
Troopers said Aguilar Gaona and her passenger, 23-year-old Marilyn Manriquez Gutierrez of Cornelius, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Heuvelhorst and his wife, 69-year-old Linda J Heuvelhorst, were both taken from the scene to local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash investigation had Highway 26 at least partially closed from 7:30 p.m. until after midnight as OSP, Oregon Department of Transportation and Hamlet Fir crews reviewed the scene. Troopers said speed is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.
