LINCOLN CITY, OR (KPTV) - A Black Portland-area woman says her family was targeted and harassed by a group of white men while celebrating July 4 in Lincoln City.

She says her family was targeted because they are Black. She said the holiday weekend was supposed to be a relaxing getaway for the group.

“We’ve been going to the Oregon Coast for over 30 years," the woman said. "I was born and raised here. I’m 50."

The woman did not want to be identified. She said until the men who did this have been prosecuted and punished, she fears for the safety of her and her family.

She says her family had booked a stay at the Inn at Spanish Head in Lincoln City, a place they often stay.

“That was our refuge," she said. "That was our place to go to unwind, get away and come back to ourselves."

She said her adult children and some friends arrived at the hotel on Saturday to spend the weekend. But by early afternoon, she says some of her kids were already experiencing racism from a group of rowdy white men also staying at the hotel.

“They go, ‘mom and dad, mom and dad, these guys were in the hall and they did a hail Hitler sign to us and they said happy 4th and they laughed,’” she said.

She says the family tried to brush it off, but then there was another encounter where the men flipped off some of her children in the elevator.

She says her family then tried to build a fire on the beach, but the men soon came out on their balcony waving “Trump 2020” flags and screaming for about 20 minutes.

Shortly after that, she says she and her husband had an encounter with several of them in the hotel, where one of the men pointed his fingers like a gun at her husband. She says that’s when she made the hotel call police.

“If you can think of every emotion and write it down, that’s what we were all going through,” she said.

Lincoln City police say as soon as they arrived, the group of white men was taunting and challenging officers for seizing their illegal fireworks. The woman says the harassment also didn’t end when police arrived. She claims one of the men threw a firework at her family.

“He took a firework, he had it in his hand, and he lit it and he tossed it over by us," she said. "It did not hit us, but he tossed it in our direction and he looked at us, in front of the police, and he said this is just a taste of what you’re going to get."

She also said the group told her family to “go back to where you came from.” Police say they formed a line to protect the family so they could leave the beach and get to their room safely.

Once they were gone, police say they arrested seven men, charging with them multiple crimes, including riot, harassment and other crimes.

The victim says she is grateful for the actions of police and personally thanks the Lincoln City Police Chief.

“It was because of the training he did with his officers, in addition to God putting it in each of their hearts to truly step up and protect and serve, and that’s what they did,” she said.

She also says she gives a special thanks to the Chapel By the Sea, a local pizza shop owner, one of the guests at the beach and a stranger who saw their story on the news, for reaching out and checking on her family. She says the support from community members has helped to ease some of the pain.

Too bad they pulled the names from the article, which is the only way they could be identified as being Russian. There was no mention of Trump anywhere in the article. I guess they decided not to blame him, this time. I've had several Russian classmates and they've all been very polite. So, these are the rotten apples. Not even "Aryan nation" types.

All nicely wrapped up in a bow for the news! I am just saying why all of sudden has Oregon gone hateful! The Trump flag was good touch though!

According to Lars Larson today, Oleg Saranchuk is an illegal immigrant, has a bit of a criminal record, and was ordered to be deported 10 years ago, but has enjoyed the fruits of the sanctuary states of Oregon and Washington for some time now. If this is accurate information, convenient how that part is left out of the story too.

There's no love lost between the russian and black communities, and that's an UNDERSTATEMENT. You can literally count the number of black people in Russia on one hand. And, alcohol brings out the worst in most people. This family isn't the first to be harassed by a drunk, nor will they be the last. Be happy no one was hurt and move on with your lives. The Trump flags make me doubt their whole story.

Frederick Fukov

Sure, because it makes you a much better person to side with a bunch of drunk obnoxious racist russians. Wow..what is so hard to believe about this story, when you look at the laundry list of charges, and the fact that the Lincoln City Police had to get back up help from other jurisdictions? These guys were firing off illegals, taunting the police and wanting to fight them. Have you ever been around these mobsters at all? They're bad news, especially when they've been putting away mass quantities of vodka. I don't doubt the woman's story at all. Then again, I'm not a white bigot.

Frederick Fukov

Wow callingbswhenitsthecologneyouwear. So it's racist russian mobsters instead of rednecks for a change? Great..I guess that means that none of the racist behavior actually happend..right? Mehhh..

Mockingbird Media

Frederick Fukov - The point they were making is that there is no love lost between Russians and Black folk. But to claim "rednecks" did it like you previously did is a little presumptive on your part. Are all "White" people "rednecks" in your eyes? Seems a little discriminatory. Another question, do you believe all "rednecks" are racist? This is the problem with identity politics in today's day and age. These media stories do not include the full details and are spun to create a narrative.

Original Story: They removed the Russian Family's names from this story because it doesn't help their narrative. I listed the men's names below in a separate comment. Infer what you will........

The men, many of whom police believe are family, are Gennadiy Kachankov (30), Antoliy Kachankov (28), Andrey Zaytsev (28), Oleg Saranchuk (45), Ruslan Tkachenko (22), and Aleksander Saranchuk, all of Clark County.

Yuriy Kachankov (30), of Clark County, was charged with those crimes plus Resisting Arrest.

[scared] Ohhh left out the important stuff because they weren't Oregonians but from Russia!

Like it or not this is going to become more common. Of course if it had been blacks harassing white people, that's OK. It's their right to do so.

So were the "Trump Flags" actually found at the scene, or is this a possible embellished detail that woke KPTV is just assuming to be true?

I highly doubt there were flags, but it sure does make the story more salacious, doesn't it?

Apparently, it's not just me. I keep getting Justice Smollett vibes from this. I mean literally we just had Lopez write a letter to himself to fake a hate crime. When I read articles like this.... it's so over the top I half expected the bad guys to wren their hands menacingly as they did an evil cackle. Especially, when every faked hate crime has gone out of their way to claim Trump 2020 or wearing a MAGA hat.

Frederick Fukov

Unless you read the article, and it states that the drunk racist rednecks continued to act out right in front of the police, by throwing lit fireworks at the family.

Wow, sound like "redneck" names to me.

And I can't wait for the Social Justice Mob to take the term "redneck" and make it a "racist" term. Then all you identity politic peddlers can get a taste of your own medicine.

Just waiting for the GoFundMe account to help with their "pain and suffering." Alcohol brings out the ugly in most people, but this sounds very embellished.

Frederick Fukov

I'm you have a pointy head that matches your white hood?

Mr Q

It definitely sounds like a good thing the police weren’t defunded

Lawlessness Brings Destruction

Were the Russians on drugs or alcohol? Are they here on expired visas? Any hotel security footage of their alleged actions against this family? Maybe it's a Russian collusion with BLM to create this scenario. This whole story is lacking so much and is just too desperately over the top.

Absolutely. Over the top!

Frederick Fukov

Really? Did you listen to the story, and read the text? Why would the Lincoln City police arrest 7 white men unless they had probable cause. They didn't arrest them solely based on the words of the woman who was interviewed. One of the men lit (probably an M-80) and tossed it in the direction of the black family, right in front of the police, which means the police actually witnessed some of the alleged behavior. Yeah, I get that there have been hoaxes, but this doesn't appear to be one of 'em.

Typical American names right there! It's so convenient!

They may have been very drunk and obnoxious, but the accusations of Trump flag waving, gun pointing, giving the finger, and threats, etc. sound exaggerated to milk this for all it's worth - where's the hotel security video to prove it?

It sounds like the family are trying t put the D in Drama!!
