Deputies arrested a man accused of stealing wedding gifts from four separate ceremonies in the Junction City area.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office first received a report of a theft that occurred at a wedding on July 15. A gift box containing cash, gift cards, checks and other items for the newlyweds was taken during the ceremony.

Three additional reports were later made to the sheriff’s office involving similar thefts at three additional weddings on July 28.

Personal items belonging to guests were also stolen, including motorcycle helmets and a motorcycle jacket.

The subsequent investigation and tips from the community led deputies to identify the suspect as 42-year-old Brian Keith Starr.

Starr was arrested Thursday and booked into the Lane County Jail on charges including theft, felon in possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies said the case remains under investigation and it is not known if there are additional victims from the four known weddings that were targeted, or if the suspect hit additional weddings or other events.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4141.
