A Woodburn police officer is facing charges including sex abuse and online sexual corruption of a child.

Daniel Alvin Kerbs, 29, was booked into the Washington County Jail on Thursday and posted bail Thursday night, according to a jail spokesperson.

The Woodburn Police Department confirmed Kerbs is an officer who was hired in January 2015 and placed on paid administrative leave Wednesday.

Kerbs, of Salem, was arrested by Tigard police. Officers said the crimes occurred at a location in Tigard.

Investigators said Kerbs knew the family of the underage girl who was abused.

Kerbs is facing charges of second-degree sex abuse, third-degree sodomy and first-degree online sexual corruption of a child.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Aug. 8.
