It’s been a fantastic midwinter day across much of the region. Bright sunshine and comfortable temperatures. A dry/gusty wind flowing out of the Columbia River Gorge has cleared out fog/clouds from Longview all the way down to Eugene. Much of the Willamette Valley had been in low clouds or fog the past few days so sunshine is welcome! The coastline was much warmer, highs into the upper 50s to around 60.
As the wind dies down tonight, we’ll see areas of dense fog develop once again. Expect areas of freezing fog away from the core of the urban area. Temperatures drop into the mid 20s to lower 30s. Fog and clouds will be slower to clear tomorrow and it may stay cloudy/foggy south and north of Portland much of the day. Skies remain mainly sunny in the hills, mountains, and coastline. Stronger easterly wind should give us a totally sunny day Thursday, then back to areas of fog Friday.
We finally see a change to more typical clouds and rain showers this weekend. Saturday will be dry, but expect widespread light rain Sunday with leftover showers Monday.
There’s no sign of a cold spell or low elevation snow through the first few days of February. We also don’t see any stormy weather the next 7+ days.
