(Meredith) -- An inmate is facing additional charges after officials say he attempted to escape an Indiana jail but fell through the ceiling!

Sherriff Rick Meyer posted to Facebook on February 5, that officers were taking 28-year-old Blaze Ayers to his holding cell from the indoor recreation area at Jackson County Jail when he tried to escape.

When officers and Ayers were close to his cell, Ayers ran into a medical room and locked the door behind him.

Officers went through an adjacent room, entered the medical room but Ayers has made his way into the ceiling.

Ayers refused to come down and obey officers orders, causing damage to the ceiling and eventually fell through the ceiling and hit the booking area floor.

The inmate was treated for minor injuries and charged with attempted escape, criminal mischief, along with other charges.

There is no estimate of the damage at the time.
