The Portland Trail Blazers have extended the contract of general manager and president of basketball operations Neil Olshey through 2021.

Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Tuesday that the team will exercise two option years on Olshey’s contract through the 2020 season and the two sides agreed to an extension for 2021.

The team later confirmed the extension.

Olshey was hired by the Blazers from the Los Angeles Clippers in 2012. He was promoted to the title of president of basketball operations in 2015.

Since his hiring, Portland has been to the playoffs four times, including two trips to the Western Conference semifinals.

“Neil has done an excellent job improving our team and getting us into the playoffs. With our young and improving roster, I expect our franchise to keep improving,” said Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen. “Continuity in the front office is important as we continue to grow, and this extension shows the confidence we have in Neil’s leadership.”
