Portland swimsuit shop brings retro suits back in style

Pamela Levenson started sewing retro swimsuits in her basement 15 years ago because she wanted something comfortable and flattering.

Now her business, Popina Swimwear, has two Portland locations and offers a wide variety of unique 1940s and 1950s inspired swimsuits.

Popina is seeing a boom this summer thanks to the comeback of the retro one piece.

Levenson hopes to one day have a little swimwear museum in the Popina location in Northeast Portland to show off her collection of vintage swimsuits.
