A driver fled after hitting a 71-year-old man on Highway 126 in Lane County, according to Oregon State Police.

John S, Houdeshell, from Yreka, California, was crossing the highway near McKenzie Bridge around 8:45 p.m. Monday when the driver hit him.

Troopers say Houdeshell suffered critical injuries and was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center at River Bend in Springfield.

The driver has not been identified, OSP says.

OSP said through evidence collected they believe that that suspect vehicle is a 2004-2010 light colored Toyota Sienna minivan. The car, according to OSP, will have exterior damage including a damaged right headlight and missing ride side mirror.

Highway 126 was closed for several hours before reopening. Law enforcement continues to investigate.

Anyone with additional information to call the Oregon State Police Northern Command Center at 503-375-3555 and reference case # SP 18-331738.
