After a very mild January, for the first time in over a month we see the possibility of cold air and even snow in the lowlands (maybe). Here's the latest
Most areas west of the Cascades remain locked in ice through tonight. Many areas thaw tomorrow, but there will be one more round of thick icing in the east metro and Columbia River Gorge.
An ice storm is on the way for Thursday night through at least part of Saturday. But the "silver thaw" will happen at different times around our viewing area. Some spots will be locked in ice through Christmas Day!

It's a First Alert Weather Day Thursday for the lowlands. Just a few pockets of sticking snow Thursday morning, but we want you to be aware of that possibility
Power shutoffs have begun in parts of NW Oregon this morning as a dry and gusty easterly wind arrives. The latest forecast information in the weather blog this morning
Our yearly summer dry spell has arrived. No significant rain is in sight other than a shower or drizzle at some point NEXT week. And our first heat wave of the season is on the way too.
It's going to be a wet weekend across the region, but some places will be much drier than others! And the biggest question answered..."Is any dry summer weather on the horizon?"
Last year's Memorial Day Weekend was a "scorcher" with temperatures into the 80s each day. It'll be MUCH different this year, more like a typical "start to summer" in the region. Showers incoming!
